School of Distance Education, University of Calicut

The website is only for the School of Distance Education of the university. Started in the academic year 1981-82, this is one of the major distance education providers in South India with thousands of distant learners. The School offers 14 UG and 12 PG courses.

Challenges

With thousands of learners across South India, the School of Distance Education was one of the largest distance education providers in the region. To notify these learners on programs and exams, answer their queries, providing them with study materials, and announcing results were all a herculean task. A perfect website was a must to meet all these requirements.     

The project objectives were:

• Create a website only for the distance education program of the university.
• Help website visiting students get all the information they needed.
• Enable officials to easily update the latest news and information on the site.
• Build an easy-to-navigate, fast, simple, user friendly, and highly secure website.

Solution

We happily partnered with the School of Distance Education to create a fresh, beautiful, easy-to-use, and updateable website. We focused on five major factors:

• Security
• Easy navigation
• Mobile responsiveness
• Search functionality
• Call to actions (CTA)

We found Drupal as a befitting platform to meet these requirements perfectly. Drupal is highly secure and customizable.

Outcome

Now, the School has its own responsive, quickly accessible website which is helping a large student population get all the information they need at their fingertips with no effort. The official can now create and update contents easily to meet the needs of this large audience. After the launch, the site has showed strong user engagement.
